Platinum Show Chorus is seeking a new Director to lead the all-female chorus of barbershop a capella singers. The successful candidate for the paid position will select repertoire, lead weekly group rehearsals in Melbourne and conduct performances. The Platinum Show Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, performing approximately three major performances per year and about 12 small local performances.
Coastal Harmony Region 9 fully supports the Sweet Adelines International Guiding Principles which promote inclusivity and reject discrimination in any form. We are formalizing our pledge in the following statement:
"Coastal Harmony Region 9 stands against racism, bigotry, and prejudice of any kind. We stand with our friends in the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) community. We recognize our organization’s responsibility to acknowledge that the barbershop style of music has roots in the African American culture. We also acknowledge the role that barbershop music has played in contributing to institutional racism. We are committed to learning from the past and to moving forward with resolve.
